How to Use This Site

This site uses blogging software, so it is designed a bit like an online journal. The front page is for notices, information and news, and comments can be added. Old posts to the front page are archived, and can be found easily if you search the site, or by looking in the month by month archives listed in the menu on the right.

This is a public website, so anything that is posted to the front page is visible to anyone coming to the site, and will eventually be indexed by Google and other search engines. Most communications between group members happen through the mailing list which is private. Please feel free to join the mailing list if you would like to know more about the group, get to know group members, or participate in any events we have.

There are pages of information also listed in the menu on the right hand side, and the main info pages are also listed in the horizontal menu across the top of the screen. The ‘home’ link will always take you back to the front page. :)

Registering…..

If you just want to browse this site, you don’t need to register.

If you would like to make posts to the front page or leave comments you will need to register. After you register, you will gradually proceed through several user levels.

Explanation of User Levels:

Level 0 – New User: You can’t post yet. You are automatically assigned to this level on registering.

Level 1 - User: You can post & edit/delete your own posts. When site admin receives notification of your registration, you will be assigned to this level. (This is done manually, so hopefully you won’t have to wait too long…. should be less than 24hrs.)

Level 2 – Regular User: Same as level 1, but you can promote users from Level 0 to Level 1. This level is for regular contributors to the site.

Level 3 – Super User ;) : You can post, edit/delete other people’s posts as well as your own, and approve drafts.

Any user whose level is higher than 1, can edit/delete the posts and change the level of users whose level is inferior. eg. a level 2 user is not an admin, but can edit the posts of level 1 users, and up the level of a new user from 0 to 1, and so on.

Making a Post…..

You can make a post to the front page once you have register on the site.

Categories for posts include:
- Announcements
- News
- Events
- Website News
- General Messages

Go the the ‘write post’ link in the User Control Panel (bottom right corner) to make your post.

Tips on Posting…..

will try and add some helpful hints here over the coming weeks…
